Section 1: Long-Term Storage of the Hydraulic Breaker
If the hydraulic breaker will sit idle for an extended period, fully bleed all high-pressure nitrogen from the nitrogen chamber. Push the chisel all the way inward until the rear shoulder of the chisel makes firm contact with the shoulder of the inner guide bushing.
Store the breaker indoors in a dry location whenever possible. If indoor storage is unavailable, set the breaker upright, wrap it tightly with a heavy-duty waterproof cover, and secure the cover with straps.
Section 2: Starting the Hydraulic Breaker
Post-Service Startup (After Complete Fluid Drainage for Repairs & Maintenance)
Before initial startup after full oil evacuation for service, open the dipper arm shutoff valve. Repeatedly depress the chisel to fully lubricate the piston, then engage the breaker.
Daily Startup Procedures
Let the excavator idle for 10 minutes after daily engine ignition prior to activating the breaker.
For pre-work startup each day, stand the breaker vertically, press the chisel inward until its rear shoulder seats fully against the inner bushing shoulder, then inject an adequate amount of grease.

Section 3: Operating Precautions for Special Job Site Conditions
Overhead Breaking (Ceilings, Vertical Columns, Etc.)
When breaking overhead structures such as ceilings and support columns, slip a rubber sheet over the chisel to cover the gap between the chisel and outer guide bushing. This blocks dust, sand, and grit from infiltrating the cylinder bore and causing internal breaker damage.
Underwater Operations
Contact the professional FEROX after-sales service team to modify the breaker for dedicated underwater use. Minor underwater work is permitted only if the water depth does not fully submerge the outer guide bushing. Operating the breaker underwater beyond the approved depth will emulsify and blacken hydraulic oil, and in severe cases, lead to cylinder scoring, equipment seizure, and cross-contamination of oil and nitrogen, which can permanently damage both the hydraulic breaker and the excavator carrier.
High-Temperature Environments (Slag Removal at Steel Mills with Molten Steel Ladles)
When working in extreme heat (e.g., removing furnace slag from steel mill molten ladles), closely monitor changes in excavator hydraulic oil temperature and breaker blow frequency, and implement continuous cooling measures for the breaker during operation.
Continuous Breaking Restriction
Never hold the breaker on a single work point and strike continuously for more than 30 seconds. Extended unrelieved impact will rupture the rear oil seals; broken alloy seal fragments will enter the cylinder bore and trigger catastrophic failures including cylinder scoring, piston seizure, and cross-leakage between hydraulic oil and nitrogen gas.
